Local News: St. Patrick’s GIFT Gala Set for March 19 (03/04/22)

Several parishioners from St. Patrick’s Church came together to create a handmade item for the 2022 GIFT Gala on March 19. Kif and James Huffman, Alan and Jeanine Kotschwar, and Mark and Kathleen Eiler created the toddler rocker, the baby quilt, and a book written by Kathleen. This item and dozens more are available at the March 19 GIFT gala.

McCOOK, Neb — After a two-year hiatus, the St. Patrick’s Elementary School GIFT Gala returns Saturday, March 19 in St. Pat’s Gymnasium. This year’s theme is “And They’re Off to the 4th Annual GIFT Gala,” with attendees invited to wear Kentucky Derby-inspired hats and apparel.

Proceeds from the Giving Investments For Tomorrow (GIFT) gala will benefit St. Patrick’s School, including supporting teacher salaries and other needs at the school. The official evening will include an elegant dinner and live musical performances, as well as nearly 100 items for live and silent auctions.

The GIFT Gala actually kicks off with the Sip-n-See Preview Party on Friday, March 18 from 5-7 p.m. With a Kentucky Derby-themed drink and appetizers in hand, the free event offers the chance to preview all of the auction items available for auction. The school’s gymnasium and hallways will be lined with auction packages, which range from Husker volleyball and football tickets to a homemade gourmet dinner.

The Sip-n-See is free and open to the public.

Saturday, March 19 events begin with a special mass at 4 p.m. All are welcome at this mass; you do not need to attend the gala to attend mass.

The GIFT Gala Social Hour and Silent Auction begin at 5 p.m. Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m., served by Coppermill Steakhouse. The live auction will follow with Regina Andrijeski & Old West Realty & Auction.

Superintendent Gary Brethour said the 2022 GIFT Gala would not be possible without the many generous sponsors, who offset the cost of the event.
