Conecuh Brands, LLC has opened its new Conecuh Ridge Distillery in Troy, AL. The distillery will produce Clyde May’s whiskey, bourbon and Alabama rye.

This new distillery took years to build and will catapult the town of Troy, AL into the national spotlight. Named after an Alabama folk hero, the brand has won awards from the Ultimate Spirits Challenge, Wine Enthusiast, New York Wine & Spirits Competition and, most recently, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. .

“We distribute the Clyde May’s brand in all 50 states as well as internationally. However, this revolution permanently establishes the brand’s home in Troy, AL. Clyde May the Man, a WWII war hero, family man and expert whiskey maker got his start in this part of the country. Our distillery preserves its heritage for generations to come,” Danis said.

The distillery will be built on 76 acres and was designed by Luckett & Farley of Louisville, KY. Initially a 24 inch column will still be in service with room for additional stills. The current plan includes a rickhouse with a capacity of 10,000 barrels, a gift shop, a restaurant and a tasting room.

“I am so proud that my grandfather’s legacy continues. Clyde May’s is the official state spirit of Alabama and the first official state spirit. Having Clyde May come home is exciting for me and my family,” says LC May, Clyde May Ambassador and grandson of Clyde May.

The distillery scheme will include a road named after Clyde, Clyde May Way, as a permanent tribute to the man who created the brand. The architecture was inspired by the legacy of Clyde May. One of the hallmarks of the distillery is an immersive experience that will capture local tradition and Clyde’s pioneering ingenuity.

The principles of an “authentic experience” guided the design process with customers in mind. The distillery grounds will include a mill, still, rick houses and a bottling plant with a restaurant, museum, gift shop, apple orchard and amphitheater.

The distillery should be completed in the spring of 2023; production will begin immediately and the first product made from this facility is expected to be released in 2027
