Flowers are the ultimate romantic gesture, and the countdown is on to get them in time for Valentine’s Day.

Local florists are preparing thousands of orders for the Valentine’s Day rush. They say people are spending more and ordering earlier this year, which could be because the pandemic is easing and more people are celebrating, or because the winter storm has thrown off Valentine’s Day plans last year. last. Some have said that delivering flowers for Valentine’s Day will be more difficult this year due to the nationwide labor shortage.

Here’s where to buy flowers in the Fort Worth area, what you should buy, and when you should order them.

Store manager Cheri Kirkman says their average sale is up $15 from a year ago. People order larger arrangements, a dozen and a half to two dozen roses.

This allows them to have the creativity to create something unique for you with the roses and other fresh flowers we have available, then you can simply choose your price. Anything you can imagine, we can do,” Kirkman said.

Usually, customers could order until 11 a.m. on Valentine’s Day. But for lack of delivery drivers, the florist will only take orders until Saturday or Sunday. The order should arrive between 8am and 6pm on Valentine’s Day.

Along with roses, stargazer lilies and tulips have also been a popular option this year, said store manager Melissa Brock. People also bought gifts to go along with the flowers like balloons, fancy candles, fudge and stuffed animals. For a cheaper option, you can get a spring mix.

You can order flowers for delivery until Sunday. They will be delivered before 4 p.m. on Valentine’s Day. You can request a specific time slot at an additional cost.

The family business has seen significantly more traffic and delivery orders this year, florist Lauren Roach said. Dozens of classic roses and special arrangements are the most popular for Valentine’s Day. For a larger arrangement, you can get the Heartthrob or Cloud Nine arrangements with garden roses and foliage. For a cheaper option, opt for the darling arrangement, with spray roses, tree ferns and ruscus.

Customers get a discount when ordering early. Saturday is the last day you can order for Valentine’s Day delivery. You can choose a delivery time between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. that day.

If you prefer to buy from the store and DIY a bouquet, you can choose flowers by the stem or by the bouquet, design with the supplies provided, and the florists will package it into a bouquet at checkout.
